The Whelk

The Whelk is a storybook house by the seashore in the heart of historic Pawleys Island. This property is a favorite pick for active families, group getaways, retreat seekers, and adventurous travelers. Established in the historic district in the Town of Pawleys Island, this home is perfectly nestled between the beach and creek. The Whelk provides you and your guests with a prime oceanfront location for exploring all the excellent activities, including beach outings, kayaking in the creek, shopping, dining and sightseeing in the local area. This private home is also a wonderful option for lounging, entertaining, celebrating, reuniting and most importantly, relaxing.

Your kitchen is fully equipped with updated appliances, cookware, tableware and glassware, making meal preparation and entertaining a breeze. Ample seating is available at the dining and counter tables, as well as on the two screened outdoor private porches. After a meal, enjoy your favorite streaming show or some cable programming, including over 120 channels, in the two comfy living rooms. For cooler nights, the fireplace is an excellent way to warm up and wind down from a busy schedule.

The Whelk bedrooms feature crisp linens, fresh pillows, and updated furniture for excellent rest and relaxation during your trip. The mattresses are extremely comfortable and often praised by our guests.

The master suite is a King bed arrangement with ultra comfort plush material for a restful night sleep. A daybed is also available for reading or an extra sleeper by the spectacular marsh views. Enjoy your private balcony with views of the Atlantic Ocean or relax on the lounge chair inside the room.

The second bedroom is one queen bed and two twin beds. This bedroom is located at the back of the house, providing a quiet and relaxing space with the sound of waves in the background.

The third Bedroom has one queen bed at the front of the house with beautiful tree views and easy access to the front porch for marsh views. The fourth Bedroom, on the Lower Level, has one queen bed and two twin beds. The fifth bedroom, also on the lower level, has two twin beds.

The ground floor bedrooms offer easy access and convenience for guests needing to minimize stair use. The ground floor living room features a large TV, daybed, sectional couch, card table, and a laundry room with kitchenette.

For guests traveling with little ones, two Pack and Play pens and two highchairs are provided.

Explore the local area with breakfast and brunch options aplenty. Try Rustic Table or BisQit for a casual meal or Get Carried Away for catering. End your day with an evening of celebration in your private cabana overlooking the expansive ocean views. The limited public access makes your backyard feel like your private beach, with lots of unique shells and shark teeth to find. The front porches are excellent for board games or soaking in a Carolina sunset with cocktails.
