OUR HISTORY

ABOUT THE ISLAND

Pawleys Island, South Carolina, is a barrier island less than 4 miles long with views of a beautiful salt marsh from the mainland. Just 70 miles north of Charleston and 25 miles south of Myrtle Beach, this non-commercial island is one of the oldest beaches as a vacation destination on the East Coast. Many families of rice plantations settled in Pawleys Island in the 1700`s and the history continues to be made. Today, the island offers a ridge of dunes with lush sea oats waving in the ocean breeze and pristine white sand along the waters edge. Pawleys Island is a tradition of generations making memories of a lifetime.
