The best way to describe this property is rustic. Its greatest strengths are the beautiful marsh view from the deck and its affordable price, which is roughly half the cost of many comparable rentals in the area. The interior features original dark wood paneling, giving the home an older, cabin-like feel. Cooling is provided by a window air conditioner in the living room and window units in two of the three downstairs bedrooms. On particularly hot days, the living room unit struggles to cool the common areas, making it necessary to leave the bedroom doors open to circulate the cooler air. Off the side of the front porch is an enclosed screened porch with older wooden furniture. The porch is quite dusty, and the door is difficult to open. The kitchen is functional but clearly showing its age. The countertop around the sink is pulling away from the wall, the electric cooktop sits slightly askew in its base, and the refrigerator door does not close securely unless pushed firmly. There is no dishwasher, and the selection of pots, pans, and cooking utensils is limited and somewhat mismatched. The rear deck has weathered significantly over the years. Several nail heads protrude above the deck boards, making it uncomfortable—and potentially unsafe—to walk barefoot. Two additional bedrooms are located upstairs, accessed by a steep wooden staircase. The stairs flex and wobble slightly when in use, which may be unsettling for some guests, particularly older adults or anyone with mobility concerns. Overall, the property offers a good value for travelers who appreciate a simple, older beach cottage with a wonderful marsh view and don't mind rustic accommodations. Those expecting modern amenities or updated finishes may find the home falls short of expectations.
