Old Pawleys Vibe With Updates
I grew up going to Pawleys Island with family and friends, staying in some of the wonderful old houses and inns, always on front beach and usually with access to the Creek. Admittedly, in the 50s and 60s and 70s we were frequently roughing it in houses that had been there for years, but had seldom been modernized. Air-conditioning was unusual, modern kitchen appliances were in short supply, and there was a lot of places where outdoor showers were the only bathing option. As It Was recreated for me and my family the very best of an old Pawleys house, but with all the modern comforts of good AC, a well-stocked kitchen, numerous comfortable places to sit or lounge, terrific beds, and both front beach and Creek dock access. I cannot imagine a better spot, as long as you are not expecting slick new construction, huge bedrooms (who needs that at the beach), or fancy decor. This place was homey, well cared-for, and perfect.
