Pawleys Island House of Worship
(known as The Chapel to residents and vacationers at Pawleys Island)
During the summer months, visiting ministers hold interdenominational services each Sunday at 10:00. Outstanding vocalists and musicians provide special music each Sunday.
The Chapel stands on marshland donated by Dr. and Mrs. J. H. Porter. Originally built in Georgetown, the building was home to the Pentecostal Holiness Church. The building was dismantled and rebuilt on the Island lot in 1946. The Chapel had extensive renovations in 2005, including new siding, roof, windows, seating, and central heat and air conditioning.
Many summer residents and locals have generously supported the Chapel through the years. The Chapel survived two major hurricanes - Hazel and Hugo. There was severe damage after Hugo, but contributions from hundreds of people and the Pawleys Island Rotary financed its restoration.
The Chapel is available for Weddings, Christening, Memorials, etc. from September through May. All ceremonies must be conducted by an ordained minister. The Chapel will seat approximately 150 people.
If you would like to reserve a date for a ceremony at the Chapel, a $200 fee is required to secure it. There is a $75 clean up fee and a $100 cancellation fee. These reservations are handled through Pawleys Island Realty. For details and to confirm your date is available call 800-937-7352.
