Welcome to the Waccamaw Neck.

Located on the South Carolina Coast just 25 Miles South of Myrtle Beach and 60 miles north of Charleston. The Neck is a large tract of land that starts at Murrells Inlet and ends at the river bank near Georgetown SC. It is bordered on the East by the Atlantic Ocean and the West by the Waccamaw River portion of the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW). Various neighborhoods are located here and offer everything your lifestyle desires. Commerce and Medical facilities are all first rate.

Probably the most well know area on the Waccamaw neck is Pawleys Island, America’s First Beach Resort! Now a town located on a small, non-commercial resort island, four miles long and a quarter of a mile wide. Pawleys Island is an historic resort catering to a relaxed family atmosphere. The accommodations on Pawleys are all single family homes with a small area of condos around the pier. The homes vary greatly, some brand new and modern, others simple and rustic. Each offers its own charm and amenities. Many are for rent and a limited number are for sale.

The majority of the Waccamaw Neck is made up of the communities of Pawleys and Litchfield Mainland, Litchfield Beaches, and the beach communities of Debordieu and Prince George. The latter offering private communities on the Ocean Front.
Plans for a new community east of highway 17 that will included limited commercial and mixed residential are on the tables and ground breaking should be soon.

Even with these developments the Neck offers a huge tracts of property in conservation easements and state run and private parks. Brookgreen Gardens is undeniably one the most beautiful venues of outdoor sculpture and offers fantastic garden backgrounds. Brookgreen’s educational courses are frequently enjoyed by Neck residents. On the other end of the Neck to the south lies Hobcaw Barony with thousands of acres of natural areas protected and preserved for the future.

The seasons are magnificent here on the Neck and while summer crowds swell our ranks the spring and fall offer un-crowded beaches, great fishing and nature at its best. Activities are practically unlimited: golfing, fishing, boating, sailing, nature trips, historic tours, shell gathering and river cruises. Great schools, shopping and wonderful restaurants. The Waccamaw Neck is not just a great place to vacation but a wonderful place to live all year long.
